Stephen Hughes graduated from DeMontfort University in 2009 with First Class Honours in Fashion Design and most recently Masters in Design for Fashion and Textiles at Bath Spa University.

 

His Art Scarves explore the potential in unexpected and unfamiliar methods for creating original artwork for fashion print and scarf design.

 

Approaches familiar to fine art studio practices are often employed to create a range of abstract expressionist style fabrics. His distinctive designs are hand drawn and painted on paper and later digitally printed on silk and wool in the UK.

 

The printed fabric, laden with expressive marks at varying scales, once worn translates the cross-over between high art and commercial fashion.
